the holding area Making offerings  Kong Meng San

As Qing Ming Festival is approaching, our family made a yearly trip to Kong Meng San Temple last weekend to 'visit' dad. As required for the annual ritual, incense sticks, red candles, paper money, paper apparel package, fruits and food were orderly packed in separate bags on the night before the visit.

It was an early morning visit planned to beat the crowd. But alas, we were not the earliest few. By the time we arrived, the holding area for visitors to have their private memorial ceremony was almost filled. We found an unoccupied spot and laid out the offerings, then mom led the praying and the children followed. After burning the paper offerings, we went to visit dad where his ashes is now resting quietly inside a little chamber: No. 17333. I always imagine that his residential address is now at: level 4, block 29, unit # 17333. Sometimes, I thought of sending a letter to that address. It would be nice if I could update him the latest happenings in our family and perhaps also enclose a family photo in the letter. I think dad would be pleased to know that the family is doing well.

To dad with love, how are you doing there?
